One thing about the weather here, it is always what the forecast says it is going to be, so I wasn't surprised to be woken to the sound of it this morning, and it was heavy and drenching all day - not that I'm complaining mind, at least not in the presence of an Oklahoman for whom rain is always a cause of rejoicing because the alternative is drought.
Still wet tomorrow, gets better Thursday, and basking in the sunshine by Friday.
I don't know how I did it, but I TOTALLY forgot it was the Kiwani bake sale this morning, I didn't even give it a thought until I got to the Senior Centre this afternoon and saw the few cakes that were unsold from this morning. I rang Louise and fortunately she had put aside my usual order of brownies for the Wednesday meal at Emmanuel. I think I might have been rather thrown by the fact that we haven't had a meal for the last two Wednesdays, it was Holy Week last week, and Spring Break the week before.
I normally write everything down, like this....but then I have to remember to write it down in the first place.
I also usually do a 'to do' list the night before, which includes all my errands and people I'm going to ring. My failing memory needs all the help it can get.
In the murder trial which never ends there was a surprising twist today. One of the jurors was kicked out. The general public wasn't told why, but will eventually find out, what has already been surmised is that she was for the prosecution (who wouldn't be, I ask myself). Apparently the prosecution counsel was on the court steps, like a rock star, signing autographs, something was said, and defence counsel called for a mistrial. The judge interviews all 17 jurors (that is 12 jurors and 5 'spares' or alternates as they call them)
then the juror at the heart of the kerfuffle is escorted out of the back door of the court house, weeping, devastated, humiliated and the court re-convenes. Defendent comes in smiling, obviously thinking the case is going to be dismissed, or at least re-tried, but the judge sits down and announces that juror no 5 has been dismissed and the case will continue. Normally jurors' names and addresses are released, but this one hasn't been, otherwise I guess the media will be camped out on her doorstep and the trial will fall apart.
