MONDAY

Davina playing the violin for Zed.

I think today could be subtitled Food and Fotos - and telephones.  That's what it seems to have been about.

My phone was beginning to age and finally gave up the ghost when I spilled a Margarita all over it last night.  A lot of people have given up their landlines and just use their cell phones, but my free telephone calls is the only good deal my Cable Company gives me.

I set off for Staples thinking that this time I would get one with an answerphone, but faced with $29.99 for simple, basic and upwards of $80+ for those incorporating answerphones I opted for simple, basic.

However, when it came to setting it up my heart sank.  I am still, at 10.30pm, in the process of trying to.   I can see myself in the morning appealing to my practical friend Sharon.

I have also been sorting through my photos so that I can update all those in frames.   My favourite - precious grand daughters on the sofa holding their needlework - I put on a CD and took to a church member's studio to ask  her to make a nice enlargement of it.   The others I will take to a photo lab tomorrow for prints.

Coming back through town from the shopping area I was passing the Korean Donut shop, which everyone is raving about.  Even the healthy food freaks are extolling its virtues.  Like there are healthy donuts!!  I selected two chocolate iced ones and was eyeing the donut holes - which I normally go for - and he gave me one to taste, saying they were wholewheat.

Still on the subject of food - I had given Bubbles' minder a cheque for looking after her, which she said was far too much, she couldn't accept that much.  So she banked the cheque and presented me with an envelope of $20 dollar notes and a $50 gift voucher for a new Gourmet Delicatessen and Whole Food store which has recently opened just outside town.   So I went there as well and it is a lovely place.  I got some smoked salmon which is hard to come by here and various jars of preserves.  I don't, but everyone here tends to eat very spicy food and there are chillies in everything, and I noticed there was even a strawberry jam with jalapeno chillies in it.

Well, it is back to the telephone and instruction book.
