THURSDAY

In Brown's, Oxford.  With Zed, Tim's cousin.

Went to Kiwanis this morning.  The donuts from Tecumseh are sorted for this month and next, I volunteered to get them in October.

The speaker this morning was the new Superintendent of Schools in Shawnee.  Most of the Kiwanis membership are retired teachers (except that they are called 'educators' here) so they were very interested in what he had to say, and there were a lot of questions and answers.   I am always interested in statistics and it costs $155,000 a day to run the schools in Shawnee.  And the schools are open 182 days a year, which doesn't seem very much, I'm sure our kids are at school more than that.   And there are 24 school buses, which I thought seemed a lot.

I thought the chapel service at the hospital was at 1 o'clock but when I got there it had been at 12.30 and was all over.   I had eaten at home before I left but I did sit down with Pattisue and two other chaplains in the dining room.  They told me they had taken a short service in the Chapel, Larry was in the ER with very high blood pressure.

Still very hot here, I think the temperature was 105.
