I have had enough of summer, it is too hot, too sunny, and it has gone on too long, I want it cold and wet and damp, like it is at home.
As you see, it was 103 in Shawnee.
As this is the last holiday weekend of summer all the barbeques, which came out on Memorial Day, will be having their last BBQ before being put away until next Memorial Day. Although there were BBQs going on round the lakes I think most people were conscious of the wildfire threat, and the state burn ban, and were observing the regulations of all BBQs being on a concrete base and 15 feet from any plants. Camp fires of course were prohibited.
I've been going to the hospital every day to see my friend whose husband is dying, but apart from that I have stayed indoors today where I have the temperature set at 68 degrees, and pottered about.
Last night Sharon invited me to supper at her home with another friend; her son; grandson and a visiting grand daughter who is in the Coastguard Service in Texas.
This is the little dog Sharon rescued earlier in the summer from the Senior Centre. It was in a dreadful state when she got it, I think I posted some pictures, now it is all clean and groomed and happy. It seems to get on very well with the big dog Sherlock, they both sleep on her bed at night.
