This is a holiday weekend, it's Labour Day on Monday, the end of summer. End of summer. It's going to be 106 tomorrow.
I've come to the conclusion that summer has to end so that all the autumn decorations, which have been filling the shelves for the last couple of weeks, can come in, then make way for the Christmas stuff.
Bubbles went missing this evening. She likes sitting on the porch in the evening, and I kept opening the door to see if she wanted to come in, but she seemed happy watching the world go by, then I opened the door and she was gone. She was missing for hours and I thought she'd been kidnapped, or eaten by a racoon, because she never leaves the vicinity of the house, but there was no sign of her. Because I was deep down worried I got out all my autumn decorations for something to do, and have put the summery flowers away.
I thought she'd been kidnapped because the neighbours are all mad at me. Next door and over the road. I gave them nearly an hour to silence their barking dogs then called the police. I didn't hear what they were saying to the officer, but they were all out there and they seemed to be arguing, I just stayed on my porch and watched. My neighbour's man friend saw me and said it was time I moved on. When Bubbles went missing just after that I wondered if it was a veiled threat.
I sound very unpopular but actually there are people in the town who think quite highly of me.
Eventually when I opened the door Bubbles was there. I know it would be sensible to just leave the door open but there are far too many insects flying around. And I will never, never, have a cat flap. Not since someone mentioned that racoons let themselves in and head for the cat's food and water. That would TOTALLY freak me out.
Yesterday, Friday, I went with Sharon to see Meryl Streep in 'Hope Springs'. I think Meryl Streep is the best actress ever, and that was the funniest film ever. Everyone who has seen it says they want to see it again, I hope it comes downtown.
Today Bruce and Rosalyn invited me to lunch, which was very nice, we went to Jimmy's Egg, a breakfast/lunch diner. They had spent the morning at the travel agents booking a trip. Rosalyn's son, who was living in London last year now works in Denmark, and has a new addition to the family so she is excited about that and seeing her family.
