Wednesday 19th September - saga of my i-Pad

I have just had two preoccupations today.   One was my i-Pad which generous daughter in law gave me when I was home last year.  I wanted to send text messages on it, but to do so it needed upgrading to the next version, even though it was the latest version when I got it.  So I took it to Staples Technical Centre this morning and left it with them.   At first it was just going to take a few minutes to download the upgrade, but I think the young guy dealing with it - who seemed to be new - wasn't quite sure what he was doing, so it was passed to someone else and it was indicated that it would take more than just a few minutes.

So  I went home and got on with my other preoccupation, making little cakes for after the meal tonight at Emmanuel.     Using two Betty Crocker cake mixtures I made plain ones, and lemon poppy seed, and while they were cooling went back to collect said i-Pad.

Then I was informed that another upgrade had come out today, so it was very slow downloading, and wasn't ready.  They obviously didn't want me to wait for it so I went home and frosted little cup cakes.    But before going back for the i-Pad I rang them up to see if it was ready.  And it wasn't, and it was going to take several more hours.

I said I'd go back in the morning.   I am beginning to suspect though that they are not being quite upfront with me, and I am surprised that I was only charged $19.95 for the upgrade, I thought it would have been more than that, but I have already settled the account.

But I shall see in the morning, they can't fend me off indefinitely.

I have also managed to watch some television of the Election, which is heating up with what it is being described as 'Mitt Romney's Darkest Hour'.     A video has surfaced, taken last May, in which he was addressing wealthy donors and said  that there are 47 percent of the people who are dependent on government, who believe that they are victims, that government has a responsibility to care for them and he will  never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their own lives.     So everyone is screaming "gaffe, gaffe", and Republicans are frantically digging around for some gaffes Obama has made.

And they found one, I think from 2008, in which he says that wealth should be redistributed.   SHOCK!  HORROR!  that's Socialism.   And God Forbid that they should become a socialist nation like us, that's not the American Way.
