I had to go to the hairdressers this morning but watched a little tv coverage of 9/11 first.
The Obamas were at The Pentagon.
Joe Biden was in Shanksville PA. I shed a few tears here; as you know, flight 93 was headed for the Capitol in Washington when the passengers stormed the cockpit and brought the plane down in PA.
There are just so many stories of courage and heroism surrounding 9/11. I also get choked up when reminded of the New York firefighters running up the stairs above the 70th floor of the World Trade Centre, knowing they would not come down.
And at the Senior Centre - remembering 9/11 - Kathy and Thixie, two staff members, took cookies that volunteers had made, and distributed them to first responders, where I understand they were gratefully accepted.
But....before I went to the Senior Centre I had my hair coloured, and I am not happy.
It's too dark, too brown, too matte, and it doesn't look right with my old face. But I'm stuck with it until it grows out.
When I came here I brought with me some pieces of needlework I had done, and thought I might as well sort them out, frame them, and hang them up. I've got as far as sorting out.
My eyesight was better when I did these. There are 22 stitches to the inch. I am not sure I would tackle that today.
And the Union Flag I did here recently, in wool and canvas. I thought it would be so easy, but it wasn't the doddle I expected, I made lots of mistakes, and will probably hang it behind a door. I have never made so many mistakes in anything.
And my friend's husband I'd been visiting died yesterday.
