GROUNDHOG DAY

This is the Groundhog, the one that is supposed to forecast if there is going to be another six weeks of winter, or spring is imminent.  Well, it felt like winter when I got up this morning to get the donuts from Tecumseh at 7 o'clock.  There was a film of ice on the windscreen, I let the heater run for a while.  But by lunchtime it was 60, and definitely spring.  So groundhogs are not helpful in a state where you can get winter and spring in one day.

For a long time I was getting the donuts every week for months but a couple of members have retired and are coming forward to take a turn, so someone else will be getting them next month.

Donald Trump has been saying for days that he is about to make a HUGE announcement, and this HUGE announcement came today when he endorsed Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination.
Here he is looking Presidential  - note the podium, the flags, all that is missing is Obama's Presidential seal on the podium.

It is reported that Newt Gingrich, who has been sucking up to him for months,  thought the endorsement was going to be his,  and is very teed off about this.  A few weeks ago when Donald Trump wanted to moderate a debate between the candidates, all of them except Gingrich, said no thank you.   And this is the thanks he gets. I think it can be safely said that Gingrich is out of the running.

I took my car to Terry today to get the new tyre, and he fitted a radio/CD player to keep me awake while I drive down to Texas at the end of the month for the Conference on Ageing.  Terry's Dad said he got the second cheapest one, I asked what was wrong with the cheapest and he told me I'd have had to turn a tuner instead of pressing a button to select a channel.  Well he was quite right, I wouldn't want that.  And this one is quite nice, it even has a dinky little remote control.

The Comanche Nation historically are Plains Indians, their territory extended over all of Oklahoma and parts of the surrounding states; eastern New Mexico, southern Colorado, north eastern Arizona, southern Kansas and most of northwest Texas.  With their equestrian culture, and resistance to white domination they are the archetypical American Indians.

Their headquarters are at Lawton in the south of the state, about two hours from here.
