This is the other new painted horse round town. It is sponsored by a car dealership, although not the one on the other side of the road, this one's offices were behind me.
And a New Mexico licence plate.
Obama addressed the nation yesterday, gas prices hitting $4 a gallon (£2.50) is a NATIONAL CRISIS. It affects their energy security, whatever that means. On the subject of world demand going up he made the interesting point that cars in China have tripled in the last five years. 10 million more Chinese now have cars.
The campaign for the Republican nomination runs along, all the candidates shouting that they are the ones who will TAKE BACK AMERICA. That's campaign speak for getting off this downward slide into socialism which Obama is steering it on. God Forbid!! another four years of Obama and they will be like us, a nanny state, with free health care, and other entitlements, all of which is anaethma to them. No, it is better by far to have one's friends and co-workers holding raffles to pay for one's emergency surgery. (don't worry, Americans aren't invited to read this blog).
I have been re-thinking my route to Camp Allen, Texas. I was going to go along the highways and byways which would be 431 miles (I think anywhere south of OK is 500 miles) and take eight and a half hours (in theory, it would probably take me 10-11). But I have just had a look at the more direct route, which is the interstate from the state line. That route is 406 miles, and takes 7 hours (6.59mins, or in my case about 8) I think I will go for that.
Sharon rang this evening, there is a live show going on in the theatre downtown which she is going to with her friends Cathy and Eileen, and asked if I'd like to join them. I turned down the show (I wanted to get on with my packing) but met them for supper in the diner opposite, which was very nice.
Shortly before she rang I had put a chicken carcass into a saucepan intending to make a stock, then some soup for supper, but my Alzheimer's took over and the carcass and saucepan had to be thrown away.
Bubbles. I sit on the edge of the computer chair, and she makes herself nice and cosy behind me.
