Seen in the hospital parking lot.
This morning I went to the monthly lunch/meeting of the fairly newly formed Shawnee Peace Fellowship. Fred from Kiwanis, who is Iranian and a member of the Bah'ai faith was there, so was Tim Sean, Emmanuel's youth minister, and another member from Emmanuel; Fr Clark; a friend of Rosalyn's I run into from time to time. Rosalyn is a member of this group so I was surprised she wasn't there. The main event they are planning for is an evening lecture/get together from an author who has written a book on The Subversive Jesus, but it is at the end of the month when I will be at Camp Allen in Texas.
Everyone there was coincidentally a Democrat and I was invited to their next fund raising event on St Patrick's Day, which I will go to.
I was also invited to the downtown coffee shop tomorrow evening to 'meet' the local Democrat who is opposing the local Republican member of Congress. I declined that invite though. I have met the local congressman and although it doesn't matter to me if he is returned to Congress or not, I like him and don't really want to hear him being bad mouthed by a roomful of Democrats. I surprise myself sometimes by how many people I've got to know in this
place. I obviously get around more than I think I do.
Realistically the hopeful Democrat Congressman doesn't have an ice cube in hell's chance of being elected. Oklahoma is the most solidly Republican state in the nation. Every single county in the state is Republican.
Afterwards went on to the hospital and visited Pattisue who was having chemo. Then went round a floor. The other floor and ICU had already been done.
This evening the Adult Interest Group at Emmanuel was hosting the dinner for the Family Promise guests, but by this evening I felt I had been out and about enough and preferred to stay in. I did provide the dessert though and left it in the church kitchen after lunch. I took the brownies I bought at the Kiwani bake sale, and made a strawberry jelly for the children.
