It has been a lovely warm sunny day again today. Was out early for the donuts but didn't stay to hear the speaker at Kiwanis, I took the car to Terry's for everything to be checked over before my long drive on Sunday. I can't believe I am driving nearly 500 miles, and in one day, and hoping to get there before dark (it is going to be an early start). It would be so outside the realms of possibility at home to even consider it.
Spent the day trying to get things together. Also baked two wholewheat Guinness cakes from the battered old cookbook I've had for years.
A few weeks ago there was a fund raising event at the Senior Centre to help an employee with her medical bills, and I suggested a raffle, and made a Guinness cake to put in the raffle. The person who won it wasn't there to claim it, and didn't leave a phone number, so the Centre staff shared it between them, then Kate took the remainder home, and her husband raved about it. So today I made another one to raffle and one for him.
The raffle, which will be held on Wednesday (the 29th, they make more of it here) will be for the troops. People donate things for care packages for them, but money still needs to be raised for the postage.
