Our Kiwanis speaker was a new member - known as Fred - he is Zoroastrian, originally from Persia, and a member of the Ba'hai Faith, which is a monotheistic religion and an admirable belief system, being a faith focused on building a just, peaceful and sustainable world. The central theme of their message is that humanity is one single race and that the day has come for humanity’s unification into one global society.
Founded in 1844 they have 5 million adherents in 236 countries. They believe in the oneness of humanity; the common origin and unity of purpose of all world religions; the harmony of science and religion; equality of women and men; elimination of all forms of prejudice and a spiritual solution to economic problems.
Fred also talked about himself. He is now middle aged but came to the US to study when he was 18, and has had a successful career in engineering and aero space. His son has just become engaged to an English woman from Coventry - he was saying a little while ago he would like me to meet them when they come over here. Also he traces his ancestry back to the Magi who came to find Jesus. A little - I thought - like the Kurds all claiming ancestry from Saladin.
Since I hurt my toes I seem to be incredibly stiff and finding it difficult to move about. I think I will make an appointment with Leanna, for a sort of massage. Rosalyn introduced me to her and I have been a few times before. She is more reasonable, or at least no more expensive, than going to a doctor and she does me more good. I will ring her in the morning.
I invited Bruce and Rosalyn to lunch today and we went to a Mexican restaurant we like in Tecumseh. We were catching up and it was very pleasant.
Since I took down the autumn decorations the walls seem rather bare so I sorted through some pieces of needlework that need framing, and one or two that need finishing, like this one.
I think my eyesight was better when I started this. It has 22 stitches to the inch and I am practically finishing it with a magnifying glass. Whatever I am doing Bubbles climbs in my lap, I am always moving her little paws out of the way.
