Hello everyone, I'm back from my time out.
I thought of going to the doctor's today with my painful toes, but I think they feel a little better this morning; perhaps they are on the mend.
I went to the YMCA Pool this morning but didn't go round the walkway. There was a problem with the heating, the water was only 80 degrees, which sounds quite hot to me, but asking someone who just stepped out of it what it was like, she said it was very cold, so cold it hurts. So I just stayed in the hot jacuzzi, which is even hotter than my bath. Afterwards went on to the Cracker Barrell, had a hash brown casserole with fried apples. And a little browse round the latest stock in the shop.
Over the weekend I was mainly resting the toes. Reading and watching television which at the moment is mostly about Republican candidates hurling insults at each other, who is lying to whom, who is hiding what. Thinks "keep it up, all this is fodder for Obama when he starts campaigning".
I got to thinking that the political landscape here is just like it was in Britain 30/40 years ago, when ultra Conservatives thought that anyone who leaned, just ever-so-slightly to the left, was an "evil communist", out to bring down their middle class way of life. And they're just like that here, the right wing Republicans, the Tea Partiers. They rant on and on about "getting America back on track" presumably back on the track of capitalism, away from Obama's track of socialism. They all sound so extreme and I tend to shy away from any kind of extremism, whether it is on the left or the right.
I went to Carla's Methodist church yesterday and she preached a good sermon on Bumper Sticker Theology. This bumper sticker I saw this morning isn't exactly theology but I think it's the best I've seen.
After the service I stayed for bring and share lunch which they have on the 5th Sunday, and took a pear and chocolate trifle.
