FRIDAY 2nd March

I think my body is trying to tell me to slow down (not that I think I am particularly active, but people seem to think I am busy, they obviously have a perception of me being active) my toes were particularly painful today.  You remember I dropped a laptop on the toes of one foot, and just as they were beginning to feel better I banged up the toes on the other.

I rang a foot doctor, a podiatrist and enquired their charges (you have to do that here, or I do)and it was going to be $130 odd for the consultation, $90 for an x-ray - which I was told I would have to have - and state tax.  So I decided to go to my general physician for a reasonable $45.  I needed another prescription anyway for my regular medication, which couldn't be refilled again until I'd had another doctor's visit, so I'm killing two birds.   However, I discover that my physician has abruptly left the practice.  Very abruptly - only a few weeks ago his name had been etched in glass on the office doors.

So I go home to look him up on Google to see where he is at (how did we ever know anything before the internet?) and my eyes come out like organ stops.

Just under a year ago he was placed on probation for five years and his licence suspended for thirty days for substance abuse.  I am still wondering if he is in prison or what.  He had another office in Oklahoma City and I will ring there on Monday, see if he is still in circulation.

In the meantime, I still need a doctor.  A proper doctor.  One with an MD.  I can't be doing with assistant nurse practitioners which is what they give you here when you ring for an appointment and don't know any better (as I found out).   In the large practice I am currently registered with there was only one other doctor with an MD, and he can't see anyone until the end of March.

Sharon highly recommended her late mother's doctor, but she won't be there until next week, so I will try then.

Last night, Friday, Bruce and Rosalyn invited me to the Shawnee Little Theatre to see the Broadway musical 'Hairspray' which was very good and I enjoyed being out.  Our friend Sandra came as well which was nice.
