It has been a lovely warm, sunny day here in the 70s but states to the south and east of Oklahoma have been suffering the effects of tornadoes. In some rural areas whole towns have been wiped off the map. The death toll is about 30. One thing that can be said about tornadoes is that there are warnings, otherwise I imagine the death toll could be a lot higher.
There are public tornado shelters, and most of the churches have basements, so does the City Hall. If I was frightened, or younger and my survival mattered, I might seek refuge in one, but as it is I prefer to watch it being tracked on the local weather channel so I know where it is, and where it's heading. If the power lines go down I will be under the duvets in the safest part of the house, which is the middle bathroom where there are no outside walls or windows.
The tornado is like a big black funnel cloud, as you see in the photo.
The other major news item is Israel and Iran and Netanyahu's
visit with Obama tomorrow. Obama does seem more resolute now that Iran should not be allowed to attack Israel. I hope he grasps the fact that for Israel attack is not just the best form of defence - it is the ONLY defence they have. As Iran is committed to Israel's destruction, they can't afford to wait and see if sanctions work.
The Republican nomination is racheting up, I think there are about six states voting on what they call 'super Tuesday', Oklahoma being one of them, so now our television is full of the candidates slinging mud at each other in every commercial break. All this television time attacking each other costs them millions of dollars, their money is draining away, and Obama hasn't even started campaigning yet.
I have my senior moments, but hope I don't get this bad, although I have tried unlocking the wrong car.
