TUESDAY 13 March

I believe I have photographed these horses before but  have taken them again because they have been freshly painted.   They are sponsored by Sonic, a drive-by fast food chain, and usually my choice for a fast food hamburger and strawberry milk shake.  I put the milk shake in the freezer and it makes the best ice cream.

I had an appointment today with the dental hygienist in Norman.  Apart from when I go to Texas this one hour drive out of Shawnee is the furthest I ever go here.  I put an audio book into my newish car radio,  it was a nice day and quite a nice drive along the scenic route.  I am not sure if others think the route is scenic, but ranches and horses are a novelty to me and I like driving past them.  I was thinking that in England we wouldn't drive for an hour without going through another town or village, but there isn't one between Tecumseh and Norman.

The hygienist was working for over an hour cleaning my teeth. I've come to the conclusion that NHS dentists must just do the minimum amount of work because I used to be in and out in about twenty minutes.

She took some x-rays which used to be a nightmare when dentists had to try and get those old fashioned things into my too small mouth, but with modern technology she just puts a little digital thingy in my mouth which I bite down on and the x-ray appears on a computer beside us.  It's fascinating.  I commented that my teeth look like my toes.  She said a lot of people say that.

The dentist had a look at my mouth as well.  I do need quite a bit of work done but they are understanding about the fact that I am not insured, so we're just working through it gradually.  I have an appointment for fillings after Easter.

There are some colourful birds in Oklahoma, Red Cardinals, and I could see quite a few perched outside the window from the dentist's chair.  Michelle, the hygienist, said they can see their reflections in the window.

I haven't seen a lot of news today but the fight for the Republican nomination is getting more and more intense, with the leading candidates demanding  Gingrich drops out - and stops splitting the vote.   He's not going to though.  Never mind the good of the party, he wants to get in.

I took this photo on my way home.  I am curious to know what a Jake Brake is.  I think I will e-mail the photo to Mary who works in Norman and lives in Tecumseh.

Tecumseh is called a city but I have seen Sussex villages that are bigger.
