The big event of the day was Tim Sean's ordination this evening to the Diaconate. In England they are deacons for two years before becoming priests but I think it is a shorter time here.
It was a lovely, and happy, occasion. I think everyone though had a feeling of sadness knowing it meant he would have to leave Emmanuel for another parish. Normally he would probably be sent somewhere on the other side of Oklahoma, but Karen - understandably - has dug her heels in and is not willing to give up her career as a professor at OBU, so the Bishop is looking round for somewhere that is within commuting distance for her. I think the nearest Episcopal parish is at Seminole, 12 miles away, and then in OK City. So we are waiting to see where he will go. SIGH. I shall miss him.
Afterwards the hospitality team laid on a Reception, with cheese and wine and sandwiches, and cake.
With the bishop who was reading the Declaration in the parish room afterwards. Fr Clark took part in the service too as one of those who presented him to the Bishop.
At lunchtime I went to the monthly lunch/meeting of the newly formed Shawnee Peace Fellowship. The rest of the time I have been nursing my broken toes/diabetic neuropathy/or whatever it is that's wrong with my toes that they are so painful.
The joys of growing old. I had to give up crocheting because my fingers were seizing up with arthritis, but they have been alright lately, so I might go back and try to finish the project I was doing.
