Have been getting back to normal after my disappointment over the aborted trip. I think I could have made it if I had gone on the back roads, I make it to Beaumont alright.
I did my chaplaincy round at the hospital on Wednesday, and visited Pattisue who was having chemo. I think she said it was her last treatment. It takes several hours, I went back again later in the afternoon and took her a Pink Swirl.
Last night, Wednesday, I went to Emmanuel and took some chocolate chip cookies I made for dessert at the meal. Fr Gary has now left, and our new rector will be coming in a couple of weeks, the Sunday before Palm Sunday and Holy Week.
Went to Kiwanis this morning, someone else is picking up the donuts this month. The speaker was quite interesting, a retired County Commissioner (I think they are responsible for all the roads and bridges in the county) and a cattleman, a rancher with several other businesses. I went to lunch at one of the churches in town who host a Lenten lunch on Thursdays.
While I was at the Senior Centre I heard that the raffle I had initiated and was held yesterday, was a success, they all seemed pleased with the amount raised. I think they've now got the hang of English raffles. I've proposed a small one, once a month on a Tuesday when there are quite a lot of people there.
We are now into the tornado season and the news is mainly the tornadoes which have gone through the Ohio and Tennessee valleys.
The tornado seems to just shred everything in its path. I went to Walmart and all the displays at the ends of aisles are tornado stuff, weather radios and batteries etc. SIGH!
I wondered about a weather radio, but I'll watch the local weather channel which will track a tornado in this area, and if it gets close enough to bring the power down I'll dive under the duvets in my shelter in the middle bathroom. I think Bubbles prefers the back of the closet.
A lot of the news is also Israel informing the US that they will not give any advance warning when they launch an attack on Iran, so the US can't be blamed. But I think they will be.
It is not going to be easy. There are four targets to take out, one of which is in a mountain. It is a thousand miles there, a thousand miles back, and they will have to refuel in mid air, which is also not going to be easy. And they are going to have to get it right first time. It is the first thing I think of when I wake up and turn on the news.
