WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY

I think summer has definitely arrived, the temperature was 88 today.  I had the air conditioning on for a little while, but the house is very well insulated, it hadn't really got hot.  I sorted my closets, brought out the light summer skirts.  Bought a pair of sandals.  I am grieving somewhat over the fact that I don't think I had better wear flip flops any more, I LOVE flip flops and there are so many pretty ones around, but my toes are feeling very vulnerable.

A few days ago I had an invitation from the hospital to a 'Celebration Announcement' followed by a Reception on the 5th April.  Talking to Kevin, Larry's assistant, on Wednesday I learned that the hospital is being taken over by a big Catholic hospital, and Catholic hospitals don't usually have chaplaincies, they expect that the patient's own pastor will come in and visit them - which they do, but patients seem pleased to see us as well.  So I am expecting to receive a redundancy notice.  Larry at the moment is in Missouri where apparently all this is being discussed.

Last night, Wednesday, I made a big fruit jelly (I started calling it 'jello' , like they do here, their jelly is what we call jam, but I was corrected, they prefer to hear me talking English).  I think it was the best ever because I made it in three layers, and each layer was packed with fruit, instead of all the fruit dropping to the bottom.

I introduced myself to Fr Bill.  He is impressed at all the meals we have.  The men also have a breakfast every Tuesday.  Which rankles a bit with me, I don't know if it does anyone else.

The Kiowa Tribe migrated from the northern to southern Plains in the late 17th century.  They are federally recognised as the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma and are headquartered in Carnegie, Oklahoma, which is about two hours from here, on the other side of Oklahoma City.
